DCLXVI - Year of the Rabbit
Year of the rabbit is real ear wax dislodging, filling juddering harsh noise;
even at low volumes I’m sure it’s dangerous to not just your ears but your
whole body. Though this is not just a wall of noise, there are defined changes
in tone and structure bubbling and rip and tear apart bellow the searing noise
cocktail. I can clearly hear what was once harmonic and melodic tones burned
and flayed, as there crackle and bend trying to be heard through the circuit
overload. Dclxvi (Patrick Fernanades) really seems to have manged to boiled
up his own take on electro aggravated digitalized noise. You can almost hear
circuit boards frying, speaker cones cracking and melting. But through all
the pressure and burning weight of sound the tones seem some how haunted and
disturbed. On offer here are 8 tracks running between three minute to near
on ten minute mark- each as unforgiving as the next, but you can hear a shift
in tone and sound on each track, so it’s not the same piece of noise cut to
different lengths. As his website claims “Dclxvi is hailed by many as one
of the harshest digital noise artist around” for once you can believe pr hype-
this certainly is one of the most meaty and tortures noise adventures I’ve
been on in some time. Just don’t turn it up too loud- I think this could well
cause you whole neighbourhood to panic. Dclxvi website can be found here and
you can buy this direct there.
